He entered into a contract with the Gibson Corporation to play this guitar exclusively which began the era of the Gibson electric guitar. Later this guitar became known as the “ Les Paul ” sold only in the “Goldtop” version at that time and is highly collectible today. Les was under contract with Gibson to be seen only with this guitar for public appearances, and photos. This colaboration was stopped in 1961 by Les when Gibson changed the guitar design without consulting him. A few years later Eric Clapton brought back the original Les Paul guitar and soon thereafter Les and Gibson reunited with Les at the helm of the designs of his guitars. Today, early model Les Pauls are desirable to guitar players and collectors around the world. The guitars were a big hit and, to add to it all, Les created better pickups that guitar makers still use. Les’s Life and Achievements Les played in various venues from his teenage years and beyond. Although he retired in the late 60's, Les still gigs frequently in various small venues. In 1948, Les was in an car crash where his elbow was broken and he had his doctor set it in a position that he could still play guitar. In the late 40's Les Paul was married to singer Mary Ford and they toured the country together. In 1964, Mary decided she could no longer handle all the touring and they divorced. Les has been recognized and rewarded many times over the years and he and Mary Ford were both inducted into the Grammy Hall of Fame. Les is a highly respected musician all over the world and his technical advances in the guitar world will live forever.

The Daleks are almost as important as the Doctor and the Tardis.  The tragic story of the Doctors life is based on his failed mission to try to destroy the Daleks.The Time Lords, understanding the destructive effects of the Daleks on the universe, sent the Doctor back to the time when the Daleks were created.  The Doctors mission was to go to the planet Skaro, where the Daleks were created, and to prevent them from ever existing.  Once the Daleks found out about this Time Lord plan they set about destroying the Time Lords and everything which they stood for.  The Doctors failure in his mission resulted in the most terrible battle which destroyed the not only the Time Lords but also their home planet of Gallifrey. However successful the Doctor is in the destruction and control of the Daleks you can be sure that they will never be wholly eliminated.    The Dr Who Daleks are constantly reappearing in the series.  Their reappearance is always a reminder to the Doctor of his failure and the loss he has suffered as a result of this.  So the Daleks are dreaded by the Doctor more than any other entity in the universe.They are the one nation for whom the Doctor will never offer a second chance. The Daleks are an emotionless, alien nation who are feared throughout the universe.  There are only four daleks who have names, Dalet Thay, Dalet Caan, Dalek Jast and Dalek Sec, these form the Cult of Skaro.  The Cult of Skaro has a special mission which is to find new ways to kill their enemies, including the Doctor.  The Dr Who Daleks are feared by all, but they have contributed to some of the most repeated Dr Who stories.  Even the newest Dr Who fan will have encountered the Daleks and will know their famous declaration to ‘exterminate’.With the return of the Master, when Professor Yanas watch is opened, the Doctors nightmares have been realized more than he could ever have imagined.   When dealing with both of these evils the Doctor has to accept that he is dealing with an enemy as intelligent and experienced in the ways of the universe as he is.This keeps the Doctor on his toes, and no confrontation with either will be easily lost or won.
